Making your blog better

Man, Reading, Touchscreen, Blog, Digital

Many sites are full of distractions such as sidebars, advertisements, and too much info. This can distract an audience from participating in the way that’s the most successful for you to build your list, grow your brand, and earn more money.

So how do you enhance your blog?

If you use self-hosted WordPress for your blog, it is easy to upgrade your theme to be among the more modern minimalist themes. These take out distractions and make it easier for your customers to read the site and behave when you call them to do so.

The reality is, your navigation should be minimal also. You don’t have to have huge drop-down menus or a whole lot of different things to click on. You can have top navigation that gets the traffic to where you need them to go, and then leads them to the remainder via in-content hyperlinks, links to enjoy content under blog articles, and other ways that work better than content.

A CTA at the Header

Placing a CTA (Call To Action) from the header of your site page to catch email list sign-ups is a powerful means to make a header that gets attention. You may also use this area to mention the main content that’s on your site to guide visitors where you want them to go.

It’s a wonderful place to put everything that individuals might go searching for, such as copyright information, related websites, contact info, a link to a site, and much more.

Insert Widgets Which Are Useful

If your sidebars remain the same, people ignore them. But if you use a widget, that will let you reveal popular posts, comments, breaking news, and possibly featured sales which will get their attention more.

Insert a Slider

A different way to present more information would be to use a slider that features your very best blog posts throughout the top. That way your viewer does not need to look around; they see what is best right up front. This, along with in-content hyperlinks, and under articles advocated content, can keep your visitors on your website more.

Update pictures on older blog posts while updating the data in the content. By doing so, you’re making your blog look more modern. You are bringing back focus on the older content by upgrading it as well.

As you conduct the upgrades, simply do one new thing at a time as opposed to everything at once. You can enhance the blog content and graphics, then upgrade them, change the colours, and enhance the navigation over time so that it will not confuse your visitors. You want to keep your branding so that they know that it’s yours.
